Abstract

The following paper provides a literature review on current challenges in implementing inclusive strategies for people with disabilities in Ecuador. The importance of this research lies in highlighting the barriers that people with disabilities face in accessing inclusive higher education in Ecuador, as well as recognizing the achievements made in this area. The study found that compliance with disability-related public policies is still deficient and is clearly perceived by the educational community in general. Additionally, this article presents evidence of proposals and applications of strategies for inclusion in higher education institutions in the country. The obtained result invites reflection on the need to establish concrete strategies within higher education centers, as currently, the field of inclusive education and the existing information about it is vast, so its applicability should be immediate in the short term.
