Quality and Productivity: An Analysis to the "5S" Method in Profitability for Companies in the Poultry Sector of the Province of Tungurahua

Abstract
In Tungurahua, raising broiler chickens is an economic activity that demands a lot of monetary resources and efforts to generate profitability. In addition, there are different activities that lack good practices, order, management and control. The objective is to compare the monetary variation in the profitability of a normal breeding batch with a breeding batch with the application of the 5S Method activities. The approach of the methods, was raised by the 5S Method, a Japanese technique based on five principles (Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu and Shitsuke) to promote organization, cleanliness and productivity in companies. The company “Avicola Pollos SF” of the city of Ambato was considered. The results of the study provide activities of organization, cleaning, classification, standardization and discipline to reduce the cost of production of a breeding batch and, therefore, an increase in the profitability of the company. It is concluded that the application of the 5S Method generated an increase in the company's profitability of 12.2% equivalent to $ 3,910.74 over a period of 45 days.
