Abstract

In Higher Education reading in English implies to extract information, to evaluate it and use it as a guide for reasoning processes that contribute to general comprehension for its professional application. At the university level the students at the time of deepening into a specific theme, as part of their professional culture, must get the information to achieve an adequate comprehension and interpretation for reflecting and evaluating the text content, whose communication can widen its meaning and correct application in the professional life. The present paper aims at reflecting upon the importance of the reading texts in English for the university formative processes, which requires from the teaching learning process a better orientation to work with reading in English for developing in the university students linguistic and professional aspects.

    Assistant Professor Head of the Department of English at the Faculty of Foreign Languages ​​of the Universidad de Oriente and member of the Board of Directors. He is in the doctoral training opting for the scientific degree of Dr. in Education Sciences. He has participated in faculty events, national and international.
